Jody
Lloyd is a music producer/songwriter and poet from New Zealand.
Starting out as a rapper in his teens, he would later become the first person to sign a licensing contract with Universal
Records NZ as a solo artist, and with his duo Dark Tower. Dark Tower were the first rap act in New Zealand to remove the American accent influence from their rapping style and sample music that was culturally relevant to New Zealand. This gained a lot of attention and their music climbed to 'cult' status. They gigged and toured a lot, and had three important releases between 1993 and 2005. Lyrics from their first single 'Zealman' later became studied in the New Zealand High School English curriculum - as an example of colloquial vernacular in modern popular culture.
His experience in the music industry led Jody to operate his own 'natural accent' recording label She'll Be Right Records, producing and releasing over 20 albums between 2002 and 2010. Many artists associated with the label have gone on to do great things. Most notably The Eastern and Anthonie Tonnon.

In 2008 Jody created his first viral youtube sensation 'Humble Mountain Man' with a celebratory song about the life of Sir Edmund Hillary following his departure. The video was featured as the opening clip at the Mountain Film Festival in Colorado, USA that same year.

After the release of his critically acclaimed album, SILENTinvisible (2008), Jody moved to Melbourne, Australia to pursue his rap music career. While in Melbourne, bypassing the music industry, he created a well renowned 'internet' album 'Everything is Under Control' - a release which broke new ground for the genre of hip hop/rap. This is when he started making youtube videos, many of which became viral... The song/videos were described by one fan as '3 minute doco punches'. Jody's ideas inspired many artists, including the popular Rap News, after he invited Hugo to guest on his doco-song about 'Climate Change'. In 2010 his music videos were shown at a special event in the theater of the Christchurch Art Gallery. In 2008/2009 Jody was also featured in two publications of Australian Poetry Journal, 'Going Down Swinging', and had music videos shown in the Melbourne City Library.
Jody has also composed music for TV shows, films, an award winning documentary, live theater and contemporary dance. These experiences encouraged him to be more experimental with music production and eventually recognizing that certain tones, chords and sounds had a profound effect on emotions. In 2011 he released a three part album series of music for films - Sky Is Falling. It was a challenge to get film companies to license his music, so he thought 'i'll make my own film then', and decided to document his next music project - a Sound Healing inspired album dedicated to the people of his earthquake stricken hometown, Christchurch.
In 2013 while pursuing his documentary project 'In Search of the Perfect Frequency', Jody was lead to Bali and had an epiphany. A film production company led by Slavko Martinov started following him, and did so for almost two years while Jody undertook this new, life changing project. Jody based himself in Bali while learning the sacred art of Sound Healing and creating another before it's time concept album... Perfect Freq!
